Brussels, 19 May: Lunch-time discussion on Crisis management tools for civilian protection and conflict resolution
The concept of crisis management covers a wide range of complex situations and activities. Essentially it includes interventions designed to bring an end to armed conflict, to ensure the protection of civil populations, and create the conditions for reconstructing devastated areas. It combines and relies on both military and civilian means.
In the light of recent crisis around the world, what is the reality on
the ground? When reacting, how effective is the “International
Community”? How are such actions structured, organized and funded? How
do national and regional interests impact on the decisions to
intervene?
These are just some of the key questions the panel discussion is
expected to explore as speakers will give an overview of the complexity
of the crisis management concept.
