One day – 19 August – is a global celebration of humanitarians, of people helping people. World Humanitarian Day honors humanitarian workers who have lost their lives, and those that continue to risk it every day to provide aid to people in need regardless of who they are or where they are.
UN Security Council visits Belgium
This weekend the Security Council will visit Belgium. This visit is part of the remembrance of the First World War. It's the first time that the Security Council will visit the country. After Belgium, the Council will visit the Netherlands, Somalia and South Sudan.
July – MDG Report 2014 Released
The 2014 Millennium Development Goals Report examines the latest progress towards achieving the MDGs, it reaffirms that the MDGs have made a profound difference in people’s lives; global poverty has been halved five years ahead of the 2015 timeframe, according to a new report launched on Monday, 7th July, by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
June – the Green Month at the UN in Brussels
June has been an exciting month for the United Nations in Brussels, and for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in particular, with plenty of opportunities to raise awareness of and discuss issues related to the environment! The activities have taken place against the backdrop of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) held in Nairobi on 23-27 June.
