Environment center stage in Brussels
June has witnessed a series of environment related events taking place in the vibrant city of Brussels. The month started with ‘Green Week’ the largest annual gathering for the environment community in Europe, from 3 to 5 June, showcasing the theme of Nature and Biodiversity. Simultaneously the ‘European Development Days’ (EDDs) witnessed the participation of more than 6000 people on 3 and 4 of June in the 2015 European Year for Development’s flagship event.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has recently launched a world-wide campaign, #MigrantHeroes, inviting people around the world to identify and tell the stories of Migrant Heroes who contribute in a significant manner to their countries of origin and their host communities. The aim of the campaign is to highlight the diversity of migration and the various ways through which they can positively impact society.
World Health Day 2015: How safe is your food?
On April 7, the UN celebrates World Health Day. This year’s theme is Food Safety; an excellent opportunity to recognize the important role we all play in ensuring the food safety of our food production, and to strengthen the collaboration and coordination between these areas in order to prevent, detect and respond to foodborne diseases.

UNESCO celebrates youth during fourth World Radio Day
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is celebrating World Radio Day on 13 February. The theme of the fourth World Radio Day is ‘Youth and Radio’, and the goal is to promote greater participation of youth in radio, not only as listeners, but as producers and broadcasters.
CSR will help enterprises achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) took part in the Multi-Stakeholder Forum on CSR held in Brussels on the 3rd and 4th of February. Mr. Christophe Yvetot, the Head of UNIDO Liaison Office to the European Union was invited as speaker on the panel “International Development Cooperation – towards a global level playing field”.

This year, the UN Human Rights Office in Brussels celebrated Human Rights Day by welcoming the public to a special screening at Bozar of Virunga - a documentary that explores the role that extractive industries have played in feeding the conflict and violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

UN Security Council visits Belgium
This weekend the Security Council will visit Belgium. This visit is part of the remembrance of the First World War. It's the first time that the Security Council will visit the country. After Belgium, the Council will visit the Netherlands, Somalia and South Sudan.
July – MDG Report 2014 Released
The 2014 Millennium Development Goals Report examines the latest progress towards achieving the MDGs, it reaffirms that the MDGs have made a profound difference in people’s lives; global poverty has been halved five years ahead of the 2015 timeframe, according to a new report launched on Monday, 7th July, by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
