World Humanitarian Summit
The world is witnessing the highest level of human suffering since the Second World War. This is why, for the first time in the 70-year history of the United Nations, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has convened the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul on 23 -24 May.
UN/UNIDO Brussels Football Team wins Schuman Trophy
In a high level and symbolic final against NATO, the UN Brussels Football Team supported by UNIDO won the Schuman Trophy’ inter-institutional tournament of this year. , Since seven years the UN Team has been part of the tournament which regroups EU and other institutions (e.g. EC, Council, NATO, etc.). The spirit of Schuman Trophy around solidarity and fair-play are very much in line with UN values and the EU-UN partnership.
UNDP at 50: World must step up to beat poverty by 2030
Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is only possible with a broad coalition of leaders from government, civil society, multilaterals and the private sector, said Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP) on the eve of a major Ministerial Meeting to mark the organisation’s 50th anniversary. The SDGs are the 17 ambitious goals that set out the world’s development agenda between now and 2030, and include a commitment to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality and spread peace and justice.

Advocacy is central to generating momentum and commitment to achieve the SDGs. The SDG Advocacy Group is composed of eminent personalities actively leveraging their unique resources, networks and specialized skills to help implement the 2030 Agenda.
UNIDO and the EU: 10 years of cooperation in over 100 countries
A new report on the cooperation between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the European Union (EU) from 2005 to 2015 was today launched in Vienna in the presence of LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, Klaus Rudischhauser, Deputy Director General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission (DG DEVCO) and Ambroise Fayolle, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

UN Security Council visits Belgium
This weekend the Security Council will visit Belgium. This visit is part of the remembrance of the First World War. It's the first time that the Security Council will visit the country. After Belgium, the Council will visit the Netherlands, Somalia and South Sudan.
July – MDG Report 2014 Released
The 2014 Millennium Development Goals Report examines the latest progress towards achieving the MDGs, it reaffirms that the MDGs have made a profound difference in people’s lives; global poverty has been halved five years ahead of the 2015 timeframe, according to a new report launched on Monday, 7th July, by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
